Johnson and Hicks Earn Gold in the Elite Pursuits on Day Two of Track Nationals

Walters and Marquardt claim Elite Time Trial titles, while Beebe and Zubris earn Elite Scratch Race titles.

 

The 2026 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships continued Friday at the VELO Sports Center with twelve national titles awarded in the Time Trial, Individual Pursuit, and Scratch Race events.

Men’s Kilo Time Trial

Anders Johnson (Huntsville, Utah; Ventum / Wove / Enve) set the bar in heat 11 with a time of 1:02.952, earning him the bronze medal. All eyes were on Dalton Walters (Costa Mesa, Calif.; Turbo Velo Cycling) and David Domonoske (Palo Alto, Calif.; Alto Velo) as they took the line in the final heat. Walters, the reigning National Champion, rode to victory once again, clocking a time of 1:02.341 to claim his second Stars and Stripes jersey of the week. Domonoske secured silver with his time of 1:02.659. Finn Koller (Bethlehem, Pa.; Edge Cycling) earned the national title for the U23 category.

Women’s Kilo Time Trial

Andrea Villaroman (Colorado Springs, Colo.; COS Racing) set the bar in heat 3 with a time of 1:09.149, which would earn her a spot on the podium with bronze. Hayley Yoslov (El Segundo, Calif.) took on her race against the clock in heat 4 and secured silver with a time of 1:08.208. The reigning National Champion Mandy Marquardt (Allentown, Pa.; Edge Cycling) was one to watch heading into the final heat, and she did not disappoint. Closing it out with a blistering pace and finishing with a time of 1:08.123 to once again take the top step of the podium. Yoslov’s performance also earned her the national title for the U23 category.

Men’s Individual Pursuit

In the final, Anders Johnson (Huntsville, Utah; Ventum / Wove / Enve) and Otis Engel (Mertztown, Pa.; Star Track) raced for gold, while Ian Anderson (Fort Collins, Colo.; Chaney Windows and Doors) and Merrick Gallagher (Redmond, Wash.; Waterline Racing) battled for bronze. In a powerfully paced pursuit, Johnson made the catch to win the Stars and Stripes jersey. Adding to that victory, Johnson set a new facility record with his time of 4:13.367. Engel earned silver, and Anderson rounded out the podium. Engel’s efforts also earned him the Stars and Stripes jersey for the U23 category.

Women’s Individual Pursuit

The women of Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY28 came to compete on day two, claiming three of the four qualifying spots. In the final, Anna Hicks (Boulder, Colo.; Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY28) and Ella Sabo (Redlands, Calif.; Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY28) raced for gold, while Bethany Ingram (Columbia, S.C.; Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY28) and Reagen Pattishall (Breinigsville, Pa.; Turbo Velo Pickle Juice) battled for podium position. Hicks made the catch, rode to victory, and claimed her second national title of the week. Sabo earned silver, and Ingram rounded it out with bronze. Sabo’s performance also earned her the Stars and Stripes jersey for the U23 category.

Men’s Scratch Race

Twenty-six riders battled it out in two qualifying races to secure their spot in the final. Twenty-two riders ultimately took the track for an exhilarating 40-lap final. It came down to a sprint to the line between AaronBeebe (Indianapolis, Ind.; First Internet Bank Cycling) and Colby Lange (Edwards, Colo.; Colo. Project Echelon Racing), with Beebe pushing it over to win the Stars and Stripes jersey. Lange secured silver, and Enzo Edmonds (Brooklyn, N.Y.; Star Track) claimed bronze. Edmond’s performance also earned him the national title for the U23 category.

Women’s Scratch Race

Fifteen riders lined up to race for 10 kilometers and their chance to claim the national title. Attacks were exchanged throughout the race, but the field continued to come back together until the final laps, where Kimberly Zubris (Alburtis, Pa.; Star Track), Victoria Park (Seattle, Wash.; Waterline Racing), and Elanor Finlayson (Atlanta, Ga.) pulled away from the pack, pushed the pace, and widened the gap. On the bell lap, Zubris made her move and crossed the finish line solo to win the Stars and Stripes jersey. Park claimed silver, and Finlayson secured bronze. Chloe Patrick (Carson, Calif.; Caldera Medical x Aurea Racing) earned the national title for the U23 category.
