The 2025 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships kicked off on Thursday at the Colorado Springs Velodrome with new National Champions crowned for Men’s Individual Pursuit, Women’s Keirin, Men’s Scratch Race, Women’s Omnium, and Men’s Sprint.
In the final, Anders Johnson (Huntsville, Utah; Ventum/Voler) and Ian Anderson (Fort Collins, Colo.; Chaney Windows and Doors Pastaria) raced for gold, while Otis Engel (Mertztown, Pa.; Star Track) and Jack Diemar (Eagle, Colo.; Kelly Benefits Strategies Cycling) battled for bronze. In a powerfully paced pursuit, reaching speeds of nearly 59 km/hr, Johnson claimed the Stars and Stripes with a time of 4:05.358. Anderson earned silver, and Engel rounded out the podium with bronze. Engel’s efforts also earned him the Stars and Stripes jersey for the U23 category.

In the Women’s Keirin Round 1, eleven riders raced for their spot in the final. Kayla Hankins (Scottsdale, Ariz.; American Sprint Cycling Program), Mandy Marquardt (Allentown, Pa.; Edge Cycling), and Mia Deye (Geigertown, Pa.; Star Track UCI) were the top qualifiers in heat 1, while McKenna McKee (Vancouver, Wash.; Tessacrat), Hayley Yoslov (Corte Madera, Calif.), and Emily Hayes (York, S.C.) were the top qualifiers in heat 2. The six riders would take to the track for the final, where the energy was palpable, and came down to a well-fought, full-out finish. McKee pushed it over the line to claim gold by a margin of 0.095. This win also earned McKee the Stars and Stripes jersey for the U23 category. Deye secured silver, and Marquardt earned bronze.

Thirty-nine riders battled it out in two qualifying races to secure their spot in the final. Twenty-four riders ultimately took the track for an exhilarating 30-lap final where Grant Koontz (Nederland, Colo.; Star Track UCI) and Otis Engel (Mertztown, Pa.; Star Track) captured an early lead and lapped the peloton to secure gold and silver, respectively. Engel’s performance also earned him the Stars and Stripes jersey for the U23 category. Lance Abshire (Baton Rouge, La.; Chaney Windows and Doors) rounded out the podium with bronze.

The points were close after the Scratch Race and Tempo Race, with Olivia Cummins (Fort Collins, Colo.; UCI CTW: Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY28) and Stephanie Lawrence (Colorado Springs, Colo.; Star Track) going into the Elimination Race in the top two spots with 76 points and 74 points, respectively. The Elimination Race re-positioned the leaderboard, with Lawrence moving into the top spot with 110 points. Following an action-packed Points Race, Cummins won the national title with 140 points. This win also earned Cummins the Stars and Stripes jersey for the U23 category. Lawrence earned silver with 122 points, and Reagen Pattishall (Breinigsville, Pa.; Turbo Velo Pickle Juice) rounded out the podium with bronze.

In the semi-final, Dalton Walters (Richardson, Texas) and James Alvord III (Allentown, Pa.; Edge Cycling) battled it out in heat 1, while Wyatt Paul (Seattle, Wash.; Water Line Racing) and Graeme Frislie (Paradise, Au.; CCACHE x Bodywrap) went head-to-head in heat 2. Walters and Frislie moved through to the final, where Walters won both heats and the national title. Frislie secured silver, and Alvord rounded out the podium with bronze. Finn Koller (Bethlehem, Pa.; Edge Cycling) earned the national title for the U23 category.
