Hannah began riding BMX at age 9. She got into BMX Freestyle because of her cousin, Brett Banasiewicz, who was one of the top riders in the United States. In 2011, Banasiewicz opened the Kitchen BMX and Skatepark in his hometown of South Bend, which is about a half-hour drive from Roberts' home. She entered her first BMX competition when she was 12. In 2017 at age 17, Hannah became the first-ever BMX Freestyle World Champion at the inaugural UCI World Championships in Chengdu, China. She placed third in 2018 and won the World Championship title again in 2019 where she became the first female ever to land a 360-Tailwhip in competition. Hannah had a perfect 2019 World Cup season winning every single World Cup to claim the series title, and went on to win the Pan Am Championships and National Championships that same season. COVID put a halt to the BMX Freestyle competition calendar, but she came out of the pandemic to win the 2021 UCI World Championships taking her third world title. She went into Tokyo 2020 as the rider to beat as BMX Freestyle made its Olympic debut. After throwing down a killer run, she walked away making history taking the silver medal.
