2025 advancement fund

2025 USA Cycling Event Organizer Advancement Fund Now Accepting Applications

In its second year, the program will award grants to competitive events offering clinics paired with racing opportunities to lower the barrier for new cyclists.

USA Cycling is excited to announce the opening of the 2025 Event Organizer Advancement Fund, an initiative designed to support race promoters committed to growing the sport of cycling. For its second year, the fund will award grants to event promoters who implement beginner, junior, or women’s clinics, paired with corresponding race categories, to lower the barrier to entry for new cyclists and expand participation in competitive racing.

Following the success of the inaugural 2024 grant program, USA Cycling is focusing the 2025 program on events that offer new racer clinics as part of the overall event schedule. Data from the past three years indicates that rider-to-racer clinics are some of the strongest drivers of new racer participation, specifically among women and juniors. These clinic-event pairings funded by the 2025 grant program will serve as an essential entry point for new cyclists, providing the skills and confidence needed to compete in races across various disciplines.

“Data from the 2024 program suggested that the most success came from events offering clinics,” said Matthew Waite, USA Cycling Event Marketing Manager. “These clinics played a pivotal role in making cycling more accessible, particularly for juniors, women, and beginners. With this expanded program for 2025, we’re not only encouraging new participants to race but also helping foster the next generation of competitive cyclists.”

The Event Organizer Advancement Fund application will be open from March 14 to April 4, 2025. Applications will be evaluated based on completeness, quality of responses, and alignment with program objectives in engaging new cyclists, with a particular focus on beginners, juniors, and women.

“We are focused on making cycling more inclusive and accessible,” said Waite. “This fund is a key step in our efforts to help grow the sport, and we look forward to supporting more events in 2025.”
