Colorado Springs, Colo. – Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, IN; Sho-Air Twenty20) wins her fourth stage at the 2019 Colorado Classic and the Overall, Best Young Rider, Queen of the Mountain and Sprint Jerseys. Dygert once again powered her way into the final break and rode away from Janelle Cole (Newaygo, Mich.; LUX/ Flexential).

“I just wanted this race to be a really good block of training for the World Championships. Hopefully this helps my case with being able to go. I work really hard and it’s taken over a year to get my strength back,” Dygert said at the post stage press conference. The U.S. National Team for the 2019 UCI Road World Champions will be announced in mid-September and the event will take place September 22-29, 2019 in Yorkshire, Great Britain.

The early laps of the 8-lap circuit were filled with attacks. U.S. National Team riders Emma Edwards (Cambridge, Mass.; Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Cara O’Neill (Tucson, Ariz.; University of Arizona) rode aggressively throughout the early laps. Both Katie Hall (Saratoga, Calif.) and Madeline Bemis (Corona; Calif.; Milligan College) went to the front on multiple occasions trying to ignite the chase group and bring back breaks.

“I was really happy with today’s results, overall we are stoked to have the opportunity to

ride for the U.S. National Team, the entire experience was a dream come true,” said Bemis at the end the race. “I’m really excited for the beginning of mountain bike season and school, which starts on Tuesday!” Bemis was the top finisher for the U.S. National Team, placing 12th on the final stage of the Colorado Classic.

“Our goal was to provide a great development opportunity for our collegiate riders, looking back at this experience from training camp to the completion of the race, I think we accomplished that,” said Jeff Pierce, Director of Elite Athletics, Road and Track for USA Cycling and Team Director. “I hope racing in the Colorado Classic and seeing other riders, like Chloe and Jenn, who wear the red, white and blue will inspire these ladies to do great things.”
