Team USA Recap: Dowell Second in BMX Freestyle World Cup Overall with Bruce Earning Bronze in Sakai; Wood Claims Second BMX National #1 Title

USA BMX Race of Champions/Grand Nationals: Tulsa, Oklahoma

(November 27-30)Cameron Wood (Mongoose/USA BMX Foundation) won his second consecutive National #1 Men’s Pro Title after a weekend of racing in Tulsa at the USA BMX Grands to wrap up the season. Kamren Larsen (Factory Answer) won the two featured races of the weekend, Race of Champions and the Grands.

UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup: Sakai, Japan

(November 27-30)Nick Bruce placed 3rd in Sakai, Japan, the final BMX Freestyle World Cup race of the season. Justin Dowell entered the finals in 3rd but a tough crash knocked him out of contention for a top spot. Heading into the weekend leading the series overall, Dowellstill finished the series in 2nd.

USA Cycling CX National Series, North Carolina Grand Prix: Hendersonville, NC

(November 22-23) – The final stop of the USA Cycling CX National Series was a weekend of C2 racing at the North Carolina Grand Prix, in Hendersonville, NC.

Kerry Werner, Jr (Velo Mafia Racing p/b Bikeflights) took 1st in a tight elite men’s race on day one, coming in three seconds ahead of Canadian Tyler Clark (Caledon Hills Armada) and six seconds ahead of Tofik Beshir (CXD Trek Bikes). Jules Van Kempen (Team Winston Salem-Flow) was 4th and Tom Scott (Marian University) 5th

Newly crowned Pan Am CX champion Lizzy Gunsalus (Marian University) placed 2nd behind Swiss rider Jolanda Neff (Cannondale Factory Racing). Lauren Zoerner (Competitive Edge Racing), Amelia Shea (Feedback Sports) and Ella Brenneman (CXD Trek Bikes) placed 3rd-5th.

Day two saw Canadians Cole Punchard (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Tyler Orschel (Pan American Union Racing) finish 1st and 2nd just one second apart, followed by Tofik Beshir, Jules Van Kempen and Kerry Werner, Jr. in 3rd-5th

Lizzy Gunsalus placed 2nd again behind Neff on day 2, followed by Lauren Zoerner, Canadian Elli Clark (CHC Armada) and Amelia Shea.

The 2025 Final Overall Standings saw Andrew Strohmeyer take the elite men’s top spot, followed by Eric Brunner, Jules Van Kempen, Tyler Clark, and Kerry Werner, Jr

Canadian Maghalie Rochette earned the elite women’s top spot, followed by Manon Bakker,Sidney McGill, Lauren Zoerner, and Caroline Mani

Noah Scholnick led the junior men, followed by Ethan Brown and Jacob Hines

Hadley Molnar led the junior women, followed by Alexa Haviland and Elly Moore

UCI World Cup: Tabor, Czech Republic

(November 23) – A small team of Americans arrived in Europe to kick off the Cyclocross World Cup season, with help from USA Cycling Foundation’s MudFund. 

Andrew Strohmeyer (CXD Trek Bikes) placed 12th in the elite men’s race, which saw 49 cyclists battle it out in Tabor. Kaya Musgrave (Pure Energy Drink-Haro Bikes by Corego) was the top-placing American in the elite women’s race, placing 22nd in a field of 56.

UCI World Cup: Flamanville, France

(November 30)Ada Watson (CXD Trek Bikes) was the top placing American a week later in Flamanville, taking 8th in the junior women’s race. Lidia Cusack (CXD Trek Bikes) was 15thand Andrew Strohmeyer (CXD Trek Bikes) 16th for the top American results in elite women’s and men’s racing.

Next up in the 12-race series is Namur, Belgium, on December 14.
