By: Angelina Palermo  September 13, 2022

Team USA will head to Saint Quentin En Yvelines, France in mid-October

USA Cycling announced today the athletes that will be representing the United States at the 2022 Tissot UCI Track World Championships in Saint Quentin En Yvelines, France, October 12-16, 2022.

Olympic Omnium Champion Jennifer Valente (San Diego; TWENTY24 Pro Cycling) will be back on the track to contest for the rainbow stripes. Valente is a four-time World Champion in the Team Pursuit, but has yet to win an individual title.

After a summer spent with their World Tour teams racing on the road, 2020 Team Pursuit World Champions Lily Williams (Tallahassee, Fla.; Human Powered Health) and Megan Jastrab (Apple Valley, Calif.; Team DSM) will also be making their way back to the track for the World Championships.

Women’s Endurance Coach, Gary Sutton, said, “We’re excited to get the Team Pursuit squad back on the track in France with Jennifer, Lily, and Megan. Additionally, we have new athletes, Zoe, Shayna, Colleen, and Olivia, that we have brought into the Elite racing program and we’re excited to test them at the World Championship level.”

Team USA veteran and UCI Track Champions League winner Gavin Hoover (Manhattan Beach, Calif.; L39ion of Los Angeles) will be leading the Men’s Endurance squad. The rest of the team has several new faces that will be racing in the stars-and-stripes including Pan American Scratch Race Champion Grant Koontz (Nederland, Colo.; Star Track) along with the Elite Men’s Team Pursuit National Champions, David Domonoske (Menlo Park, Calif.; Alto Velo), Brendan Rhim (Norwich, Vt.; Wildlife Generation Pro Cycling), Eddy Huntsman (Newport Beach, Calif.; ButcherBox Pro Cycling), and Anders Johnson (Huntsville, Utah).

Men’s Endurance Coach, Rob Stanley has been working with this group of seven in Colorado Springs throughout the summer. He said, “We have quite a few different goals for this World Championships. We are aiming at a podium, and hopefully a win, for Gavin. For the rest of the men, this is their first World Championships, and for some, even their first international competition. It will be a learning experience where we are very much focused on the process rather than the results. Many of our athletes are physically capable of world class performances, and as we continue with our development, will be reaching their full potential as the Olympic qualifications begin.”

For the first time in years, USA Cycling will be fielding two full Team Sprint squads. The women’s team includes Keely (Kortman) Ainslie (Fullerton, Calif.), Kayla Hankins (Scottsdale, Ariz.), and McKenna McKee (Vancouver, Wash.; Team Novo Nordisk). The men’s team will be three out of the four men included on the roster: Evan Boone (Phoenix), Josh Hartman (Brooklyn, N.Y.; Start Track), Geneway Tang (Queens Village, N.Y.), and Dalton Walters (Dallas; Richardson BikeMart).

USA Cycling’s Sprint Track Coach, Erin Hartwell, said, “The USA Sprint Team is thrilled to field full men’s and women’s Team Sprint squads. Over the past eight months, this group has worked incredibly hard to raise its competitiveness within international track cycling. The staff and athletes in this promising development program recognize that it’s an honor to represent the stars-and-stripes in competition and looks forward to showcasing its progression against the world’s fastest bike riders! Worlds in Paris presents a well-timed opportunity to highlight our partnership with French-owned LOOK/Corima that has put our sprint cyclists on the best equipment, creating a foundation of support that has grown the program to an elite standard.”
