USA Cycling has been awarded second place in the Tier One category of the National Governing Body Connection Based Coaching (CBC) Challenge, an initiative under the Million Coaches Challenge led by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
As a recipient of this placement, USA Cycling will receive $10,000 in youth development funding to support projects that strengthen youth sport experiences through coaching.
The CBC Challenge recognizes National Governing Bodies that advance coach education and professional development through social-emotional learning and connection-based coaching approaches. The award reflects USA Cycling’s continued investment in equipping coaches with practical tools to build positive sport environments for young athletes.
USA Cycling will share additional information as plans are finalized for the youth development initiative(s) supported by this funding.
“This recognition reinforces something we know to be true: coaching is one of the most powerful levers we have to shape athlete experience,” said Suzy Sanchez, Director of DEI and Membership Programs at USA Cycling, who supported the delivery of the CBC-aligned courses to USA Cycling coaches. “We’re proud to expand learning opportunities that help coaches strengthen communication, build trust, and create environments where athletes can thrive, on and off the bike.”
