Ryan served as an inflight refueler in the U.S. Air Force and Arizona National Guard for 14 years before turning to handcycling. With his wife and daughter as his greatest motivation, Ryan is determined to show that when you have a dream, there’s no option but to keep going.
At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Ryan made an impressive debut, earning a bronze medal in the mixed team relay, placing 4th in the H3 road race, and finishing 6th in the time trial. He continued his success at the 2023 UCI Para-cycling World Championships, claiming a silver medal in the H3 time trial and finishing 4th in the road race. He also shined at the Parapan American Games Santiago 2023, winning gold in the time trial and silver in the road race.
