Shawn Morelli Takes Bronze in Women’s C4 Scratch Race at the 2025 UCI Paracycling Track Worlds
Team USA closed out the final day of the 2025 UCI Paracycling Track World Championships with another bronze medal and several top performances from the team.
Both Tandem sprint duos qualified this morning with a flying 200m sprint, moving onto quarters (best of three races), then onto their head-to-head rounds for final placings.
Hannah Chadwick (Arcata, Calif.) and pilot Liz Stevenson (Rochester Hills, Mich.) qualified sixth with a time of 11.809 in the WB (Tandem) Sprint. In the quarterfinals, they faced a strong Great Britain team, who edged them out in both rounds. That result sent the American duo to the 5th-6th placing final, where they lined up against New Zealand. After a hard-fought final sprint, New Zealand took the advantage, placing Chadwick and Stevenson sixth overall.

That set up the Americans for the 5th-6th placing final against the Neutral Athlete Team. Over three intense laps, both tandems traded the lead, but on the final lap, Stephens and Christiansen surged ahead to take the win, securing fifth place overall.

With six riders remaining, he dug deep, making several strong sprints to stay in contention. As the laps went down, he had the podium in sight but was ultimately eliminated just shy of the medals, finishing fourth, marking his second fourth place result of the weekend.

In the mixed event, 14 riders lined up for the Women’s C4 and C5 Scratch Race. Jenny Schuble (Franklin, Tenn.) and Shawn Morelli (Meadville, Penn.) were the two riders representing the United States for the 40-lap race.
Morelli took charge early, setting the tempo at the front, while Schuble held a steady position within the main group. Several riders attempted to break away, but the field quickly reeled them back in. As the pace ramped up in the final laps, Schuble and Morelli stayed in the mix and sprinted hard to the line, with Schuble finishing eighth and Morelli tenth overall. Once broken out into their respective categories, Schuble was ranked 6th in the C5 with Morelli taking the bronze medal in the C4.
