Who's racing and and how to watch the 2021 UCI Urban World Championships
USA Cycling has announced the athletes who will represent the United States at the 2021 UCI Urban World Championships in BMX Freestyle and BMX Flatland. The team will be competing in Montpellier, France on June 4-8, 2021.
The Competition:
BMX Freestyle will be making its Olympic debut this summer in Tokyo. The Freestyle team has not competed internationally since the last World Championships which was in Chengdu, China in 2019. After over a year without competition, the team is finally able to put their trick list to the test. The IOC and UCI were able to successfully get an event on the schedule prior to the Olympic Games to be used as one last Olympic qualifier.
The contest will decide how many starting positions, one or two, the U.S. men’s team will have at the Olympic Games, along with the final roster for the men and two women.
Roster:
Men:
Justin Dowell (Virginia Beach, V.A.)
Nick Bruce (Youngstown, Ohio)
Daniel Sandoval (Corona, Calif.)
Ryan Nyquist (Wilmington, N.C.)
Jacob Thiem (Kennard, Neb.)
Bryce Tryon (Lodi, Calif.)
