ROAD
2025 UCI Road World Championships: Kigali, Rwanda

(September 21-28) In challenging conditions featuring high altitude, heat, and hills – along with huge crowds cheering them on – Team USA came home from this year’s Road World Championships with several top-10 placings over a week of racing in Kigali.

Kicking off Team USA’s efforts on day one was Chloe Dygert (CANYON//SRAM Racing) who placed 9th on the 31 kilometer elite women’s time trial course, in 45:34:77. Ashlin Barry(JEGG - SKIL - DJR) earned silver in the junior men’s time trial, in 29:14:45. Beckam Drake (Hill’s Sport Shop), competing in his first ever Worlds, placed fourth on the 22.6 kilometer course, in 29.21.16. In the 18 kilometer junior women’s race, Liliana Edwardsplaced 9th with a time of 27:20:17.

The road race course proved to be a race of attrition for every category. In the first-ever standalone U23 women’s road race at Worlds, Katherine Sarkisov (CCB p/b Levine Law Group Cycling), was the top-placing American, finishing 14th (3:25:59) in the 119 kilometer race that saw just half the field finish. Her sister, Alyssa Sarkisov (dcdevo Racing Academy) led the way for Team USA in the junior women’s road race, placing 10th with the lead group.

Chloe Dygert (CANYON//SRAM Racing) and Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health Cycling) took on the 165 kilometer elite women’s road race, with Dygert managing to stay close to the front of a shattered peloton and earn 17th place.

The 267 kilometer men’s road race was a battle for survival as well, with just 30 cyclists finishing the race. Kevin Vermaerke (Team Picnic PostNL) put in an impressive performance and was the sole survivor from Team USA, finishing 23rd in 6:31:36.
