Team USA Recap: Christopher Earns Silver at BMX Freestyle World Championships; Strohmeyer and Gunsalus Win Elite Titles at CX Pan Am Championships

UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

(November 4-6) –  Marcus Christopher (Canton, Ohio; DK Bicycles) earned silver for his first-ever World Championship medal while Justin Dowell (Virginia Beach, VA.; Hyper BMX) placed 6th in the men’s Freestyle Park finals at this year’s UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships, held in Riyadh. 

The reigning, six-time World Champion Hannah Roberts (Buchanan, Mich.; Hyper BMX) crashed in both of her finals runs but still managed to place 10th in the elite women’s finals. 

Seven athletes represented Team USA at the event: Hannah Roberts (Buchanan, Mich.; Hyper BMX), Nick Bruce (Youngstown, Ohio; Huffy Bicycles), Marcus Christopher (Canton, Ohio; DK Bicycles), Justin Dowell (Virginia Beach, VA.; Hyper BMX), Bryce Tryon (Lodi, Calif.; Free Agent Bikes), Jacob Theim (Kennard, Neb.; Huffy Bikes), and Nate McAllister (Pasadena, Md.; Pedal Pushers BMX).

CYCLOCROSS
USA Cycling CX National Series, Northampton CX: Northampton, Mass.

(November 1-2) – The 2025 Cycle-Smart Northampton Cyclocross race served as stop number 10 of the USA Cycling CX National Series. Two days of C2 racing took place at Look Memorial Park, marking the 34th edition of the race.  

Lizzy Gunsalus (CCB p/b Levine Law Group) was the top-placing American in the elite women’s race on day one, coming in a second behind Canadian Sidney McGill to place 2nd. Cassidy Hickey (CCB p/b Levine Law Group) and Anna Megale (Competitive Edge Racing) were 3rd and 4th

Dylan Zakrajsek (Competitive Edge Racing) won the elite men’s race on day one, followed by Tofik Beshir (CXD Trek Bikes) Ryan Drummond (Competitive Edge Racing), Henry Coote (Trinity Racing) and Alexander Scopinich-Burgel (Kelly Benefits Cycling) rounding out the top five. 

Day two saw Gunsalus take the elite women’s win, followed by Mia Aseltine (Competitive Edge Racing) and Anna Megale (Competitive Edge Racing) in 2nd and 3rd

Henry Coote (Trinity Racing) won day two’s elite men’s race, followed by Tofik Beshir (CXD Trek Bikes), Ryan Drummond (Competitive Edge Racing), Alexander Scopinich-Burgel(Kelly Benefits Cycling) and Aidan Vollmuth (Donovan Racing) completing the rest of the top five.

Pan-American Cyclocross Championships and DCCX Racing: Washington, DC

(November 8-9)Andrew Strohmeyer and Lizzy Gunsalus won the elite men’s and women’s titles at this year’s Pan American Cyclocross Championships, which took place in Washington, DC, on the historic grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, a residential community for United States veterans since 1851.

The weekend also served as stop number 11 of the USA Cycling CX National Series, with one day of C2 racing at DCCX on Sunday. 

CX National Champion Andrew Strohmeyer (CXD Trek Bikes) won the elite men’s Pan American Championships title with a solo win, followed by defending champion Eric Brunner(Competitive Edge), Jules Van Kempen (Team Winston-Salem-Flow) and Kerry Werner(Velmafia p/b BikeFlights) in 2nd-4th.

Lizzy Gunsalus (CCB p/b Levine Law Group) won the elite women’s title, outsprinting Canadian Maghalie Rochette, with Americans Anna Megale (Competitive Edge Racing) and Raylyn Nuss (Steve Tilford Foundation) placing 4th and 5th behind Canadian Sidney McGill.

Henry Coote (TRINITY Racing) won the U23 men’s title, followed by Marcis Shelton (Bear CX), Ryan Drummond (Competitive Edge Racing), Luke Walter (Pure Energy/Haro Bikes) and Aidan Vollmuth (Donovan Racing) in 2nd-5th.

Mia Aseltine (Competitive Edge Racing) won the U23 women’s title, outsprinting Alyssa Sarkisov (CXD Trek Bikes), Lidia Cusack (CXD Trek Bikes) and Kaya Musgrave (PURE Energy Drink-Haro Bikes by Corego) who placed 2nd-4th

Americans swept the top five spots in junior men’s racing, with Noah Scholnick (Finkraft Junior Cycling) placing 1st, followed by Ethan Brown (Midwest NXT), Jacob Hines (Finkraft Junior Cycling), Kian Reid (Bear National) and Matthew Crabbe (Finkraft Junior Cycling) placing 2nd-5th

Aida Linton (Bear National CX) won the junior women’s title, followed by Ada Watson (CXD Trek Bikes) in 3rd and Liliana Edwards (CXD Trek Bikes) in 5th.

Pan Am champion titles were also awarded in Masters categories 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65+. 

Sunday’s DCCX racing saw Brody McDonald (Milligan University Cycling) win the elite men’s race, followed by Andrew Strohmeyer (CXD Trek Bikes), Kerry Werner (Velmafia p/b BikeFlights), Marcis Shelton (Bear CX) and Luke Walter (Pure Energy/Haro Bikes) in 2nd-5th.

Lidia Cusack (CXD Trek Bikes) won the elite women’s race in a two-up sprint with Kaya Musgrave (PURE Energy Drink-Haro Bikes by Corego). Makena Kellerman (Steve Tilford Foundation) placed 3rd and Alyssa Sarkisov (CXD Trek Bikes) was 4th

Ethan Brown (Midwest NXT) won the junior men’s race, with Noah Scholnick (Finkraft Junior Cycling) in 2nd and Kian Reid (Bear National) and Porter Melvin (Mondraker Forward Endurance) placing 4th and 5th

Aida Linton (Bear National CX) won the junior women’s race, followed by Ada Watson (CXD Trek Bikes) in 2nd and Liliana Edwards (CXD Trek Bikes) and Kira Mullins (Bear National CX) in 4th and 5th

Next up in the series is the Boulder Cup, November 15-16, in Boulder, Colorado.
