UCI MTB World Cup: Les Gets, Haute-Savoie, France
(July 4- 7) – Team USA MTB had a successful weekend racing in the French Alps – their last World Cup race before the Paris 2024 Olympics -- winning three gold medals and a score of top-10 placings.
Two of those golds went to Bjorn Riley (Trek Future Racing), who swept the U23 men’s XCC and XCO races, for the first U23 men’s World Cup XCO win of his career.
In downhill racing, Asa Vermette (Frameworks Racing) earned the junior men’s win, while Lucas Dedora (The Gravity Collective) and Bode Burke (Outlaw United) placed 9th and 10th. It was Vermette’s third World Cup DH win of the season.
Matilda Melton (Transition Factory Racing) placed 7th and Kale Cushman (The Gravity Collective) was 10th in the junior women’s race.
Anna Newkirk (Beyond Racing) placed 10th in the elite women’s DH final, while Dakotah Norton (Mondraker Factory Racing) and Austin Dooley(Commencal/Schwalbe) took the 9th and 10th spots in the elite men’s final.
Gwendalyn Gibson (Trek Factory Racing-Pirelli) was 5th in the elite women’s XCC, while Savilia Blunk (Decathlon Ford Racing Team) placed 7th both days in the XCC and XCO. Kate Courtney (Scott-SRAM MTB Racing Team) placed 10th in elite women’s XCC.
Hannah Otto placed 2nd in the elite women’s XC Marathon race.

ROAD
Tour de France: Italy/France
(June 29-July 21) – Three Americans are competing at this year’s Tour de France, which began June 29 in Florence, Italy. First-time Tour rider and US Pro Road Champion Sean Quinn (EF Education-EasyPost) is sporting his stars and stripes jersey, alongside teammate Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost), who’s competing in his fifth Tour. Matteo Jorgenson (Team Visma-Lease a Bike) is riding in support of two-time Tour de France Champion Jonas Vingegaard. Jorgenson placed 7th in the time trial and is currently the top-placed American, sitting in 10th overall through Stage 10.

Tour of Austria: Austria
(July 2-7) – Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) finished 3rd overall at the Tour of Austria, coming in just 9 seconds behind the winner and 3 seconds behind his Colombian teammate, Brandon Rivera. Sheffield placed top-5 in the final two stages of the race and was 1st in the Youth category. Sunday’s stage was a ceremonial one, neutralized to honor Norwegian cyclist André Drege (Team Coop-Repsol), who passed away the day before in a crash on stage 4.

Sibiu Cycling Tour: Romania
(July 6-9) – Matthew Riccitello (Israel-Premier Tech) placed 6th overall at the five-stage Sibiu Cycling Tour in Romania. The 22-year-old also placed first in the Youth category. In his second year of World Tour racing, Riccitello’s having a breakout year, having finished 5th at the Tour de Suisse last month.

Thüringen Ladies Tour: Germany
(June 25-30) – Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health) won the six-stage Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour, held in the central German state of Thuringia. Edwards, 30, came in more than two minutes ahead of the second place finisher and placed top-10 in all but one stage.
This is the Colorado-based cyclist’s first year back on the women’s pro tour, after two seasons away spent gravel racing. “The team has been excellent this week,” Edwards said after her GC victory. “Winning here is a bit of proof to myself to continue to back myself and believe that I can be there.”

Women’s Giro d’Italia: Italy
(July 7-14) – The 8-stage women’s Tour of Italy kicked off on Sunday with Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health) the sole US rider competing. So far she’s placed top-10 in the first two stages. The race ends Sunday July 14, in the central Italian city of L'Aquila.

American Criterium Cup: Bailey & Glasser LLP Twilight Criterium, Boise, Idaho
(June 29) – Skylar Schneider (Miami Blazers) won the elite women’s race at Boise for the fourth year in a row, while Jordan Parra (REIGN Storm Racing) won on the elite men’s side on a course that circled Idaho’s capital building. It was race number three of The American Criterium Cup (ACC), the eight-race professional criterium series.
Arielle Verhaaren (Automatic-Abus) took 2nd and Makayla MacPherson (DNA Pro Cycling) was 3rd. Danny Summerhill (REIGN Storm Racing) placed 2nd on the men’s side and Luke Lamperti (Soudal Quick-Step) was 3rd.

American Criterium Cup: LHM/CC Salt Lake Criterium, Salt Lake City, Utah
(July 7) – Salt Lake City was stop number four of The American Criterium Cup (ACC), with Kendall Ryan (L39ION of Los Angeles) taking first in the elite women’s race for her second win of the series, and Ulises Castillo (iSpeed-Felt) capturing first on the men’s side.
Skylar Schneider (Miami Blazers) placed 2nd and Shannon Koch (Kingdom Elite) took 3rd. Jordan Parra (REIGN Storm Racing) placed 2nd and Danny Summerhill (REIGN Storm Racing) was 3rd.
Through four races of the eight-race series, Skylar Schneider leads the women overall in the points competition, followed by Rylee McMullen and Arielle Verhaaren. Jordan Parra leads the men, followed by teammates Danny Summerhill and Alfredo Rodriguez. Next up in the series: IU Health Momentum Indy, July 12 in Indianapolis.
