U.S. Paralympics Cycling today announced the 16 athletes – nine women and seven men – named to the U.S. roster for the 2025 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships, set for Aug. 28-31 in Ronse, Belgium. The team was selected based on results from the two European stops on the 2025 UCI Para-cycling World Cup tour, where Team USA amassed 29 total medals.
“After a successful trip to Europe for the Belgian and Italian world cups, we’re incredibly excited about this Team USA roster for the first world championships in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic quad,” Ian Lawless, Director of U.S. Paralympics Cycling, said. “We have athletes on this roster who topped the podium in Paris at the Paralympic Games last summer, but then we also have athletes who are brand new to our sport. We’re eager to see what they bring to the sport’s biggest stage this summer.”
Headlining the roster are Paris 2024 Paralympic champions Samantha Bosco (Claremont, California) and Kate Brim (Lowell, Michigan). Bosco had a strong showing to start the 2025 season, earning a gold and a silver in her world cup races in Ostend, Belgium en route to a spot on the worlds team. Brim, meanwhile, is coming off a Paralympic debut that saw her win the time trial in Paris 2024. She missed the two season-opening world cups due to injury, but is slated to return for world championships as she looks to keep the WH2 road race and time trial rainbow jerseys she earned in Zurich in 2024.
Fellow Paris 2024 cycling medalists on the roster include Clara Brown (Falmouth, Maine), Dennis Connors (Beaverton, Oregon) and Elouan Gardon (Acme, Washington). Brown was especially impressive in her world cup campaign this spring, winning gold in both of her Ostend, Belgium races. Gardon also brought home a world cup win, taking gold in the MC5 time trial in Ostend.
A Paris 2024 gold medalist in paratriathlon, Grace Norman (Jamestown, Ohio) is set for her cycling world championships debut after a stellar showing in her first international cycling races. Norman brought home two medals in her four WC4 world cup competitions and finished higher than sixth in each of her races. Joining her on the Team USA roster is fellow paratriathlete Emelia Perry (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), a Paris 2024 Paralympian who is also competing in her first season as a Para-cyclist.
Other Paralympic veterans making the roster include eight-time Paralympic medalist Allison Jones (Colorado Spring, Colorado), two-time medalist Jamie Whitmore (Somerset, California), and Paralympic bronze medalists Ryan Pinney (Phoenix, Arizona) and Freddie de los Santos(Hopewell Junction, New York). Paralympian Cody Wills (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), who made his Paralympic debut in Paris, will return to the world championships stage for the first time since his debut in 2023.
Also making the roster for their second career world championships are Team USA’s Andrea Cherniak Tyson (Goshen, Indiana) and Barry Wilcox (Port Angeles, Washington). Wilcox won all four MH1 world cup races this season to propel him to the overall world cup title, while Cherniak Tyson earned silver and bronze in Maniago.
Rounding out the roster are two athletes making their world championships debuts. WT2 rider Ellie Kennedy (Boise, Idaho) and MH5 handcyclist Josue Barron (Los Angeles, California) are set for their first career world championships competitions after impressing in the world cups. Barron won the first international medal of his career, a bronze in the time trial in Maniago, while Kennedy earned bronze in the road race in Maniago.
The 2025 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships will be the final major international road competition for Team USA in the 2025 season. More information on the competition can be found here.
