USA Cycling Announces 2025 UCI Road World Championships Team

By: Angelina Palermo  August 25, 2025

Twenty-three athletes will be heading to Kigali, Rwanda September 21-28.

The 2025 UCI Road World Championships are set to make history, heading to Africa for the very first time. From September 21-28, Kigali, Rwanda, will welcome the world’s best as Junior, Under-23, and Elite athletes battle for the coveted rainbow jersey.

Leading the Elite Men’s squad is Road Race National Champion and Tour de France “Super Teammate” Quinn Simmons(Durango, Colo.; Lidl-Trek), who stormed to a top-10 finish at last year’s World Championships. In the Time Trial, Magnus Sheffield (Pittsford, N.Y.; Ineos Grenadiers) will spearhead the effort after his strong top-15 performance in 2024.

On the women’s side, Time Trial Olympic Bronze Medalist Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, Ind.; CANYON//SRAM Racing) returns to target both the Road Race and Time Trial, both events where she earned World Championship medals just last year.

The Kigali courses promise to test every rider with altitude and challenging terrain. This year also marks a milestone: the first-ever standalone races for U23 Women. While titles have been awarded since 2022, the women previously competed alongside the Elite field.

U23 Women’s Road Race National Champion Ella Sabo (Redlands, Calif.; Twenty28 Cycling Team) is set for the test, while Time Trial National Champion Cole Kessler (Newbury Park, Calif.; Lidl-Trek) will represent the U23 Men.

In the Junior ranks, Ashlin Barry (Toronto, Ont.; JEGG - SKIL - DJR) looks to build on last year’s impressive fifth-place sprint finish, lining up once again for both the Road Race and Time Trial. Junior Women’s National Champion Alyssa Sarkisov (North Potomac, Md.; dcdevo Racing Academy) will close out her junior career on the world stage in the Road Race.
