USA BMX and USA Cycling are excited to announce that the USA BMX Headquarters in Tulsa, Okla. will become the official home base of the USA Cycling BMX Racing National Team. This partnership marks a united effort to identify, develop, and support the next generation of BMX athletes, while expanding opportunities for riders to train and compete at a world-class facility.
USA BMX is opening the doors of its Tulsa headquarters to USA Cycling’s BMX Racing National Team and development athletes for year-round access to world-class training on the track and in the gym. This partnership isn’t just about the athletes, it’s about the coaches, too. USA Cycling will work with USA BMX and the USA BMX Foundation to develop coaching programs, helping coaches gain the experience and knowledge they need to guide riders through every stage of their careers.
“This is a major step forward for BMX racing in the U.S.,” said Jim Miller, Chief of Sports Performance at USA Cycling. “By working with USA BMX, we’re giving riders the best training environment and a clear path from local races all the way to the Olympics.”
This partnership will not only bring top athletes like Alise Willoughby and Cameron Wood to Tulsa, but it will also attract major BMX events to the Hardesty National BMX Stadium, including National Championships, Continental Championships, and potentially Olympic qualifying events.
“Since the completion of USA BMX Headquarters and Hall of Fame in February of 2022, Tulsa has been the heart of the USA BMX community, and we are thrilled to extend our hospitality to the USA Cycling BMX Racing National Team as they begin to call our facilities ‘home,’” said B.A. Anderson, CEO of USA BMX. “We are excited take part in this monumental partnership of elevating the sport of BMX overall.”
This partnership is all about making BMX bigger and better – giving riders the tools they need to succeed on the world stage and strengthening the U.S. BMX community as a whole.
ABOUT USA BMX (usabmx.com)
Established as the American Bicycle Association in 1977 and headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABA is the nation’s largest cycling organization with more than 70,000 members with combined racing and freestyle events at more than 300 sanctioned BMX tracks across the United States and Canada. ABA empowers and elevates the early stages of bicycle development by creating opportunities through facility development, programs, and national events. As a result, ABA has developed a structured blueprint. A cyclist can progress from humble beginnings on a balance bike to becoming a BMX Olympian by establishing these roots.
Through STEAM, scholarships, freestyle amateur events, the national series, the Olympics and new facilities built across the United States, these four pillars under the USA BMX organization will impact young riders and families: USA BMX Foundation, USA BMX Freestyle, USA BMX Racing and ABA Ethos.
