Team USA Recap: McNulty Wins Tour of Poland; Courtney Sets Leadville 100 Women’s Record

We recap the latest in American bike racing from the past two weeks (August 5-19)

ROAD
Tour de Pologne: Poland

(August 4-10)Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) won the final time trial stage and earned the overall victory at this year’s Tour of Poland. McNulty started the last stage in 2nd place, just 7 seconds behind the leader, then won the time trial and solidified his overall victory with a 29 second margin over second-place Italian Antonio Tiberi.

It was McNulty’s first win this year and his first World Tour stage race victory. The 27-year-old has previously won time trials at the Tour of Spain, UAE Tour, and Tour of Romandie.

Arctic Race of Norway: Norway

(August 7-10)Riley Sheehan (Israel-Premier Tech) was 4th and Kevin Vermaerke (Team Picnic PostNL) was 6th at this year’s Arctic Race of Norway. Sheehan supported his New Zealand teammate Corbin Strong, who won the four-day, 658-kilometer race, which traverses northern Norway. Sheehan also placed 2nd in the Youth category, while Vermaerke was 3rd

2025 USA Cycling Masters & Para-Cycling Track National Championships: Colorado Springs, Colorado

(August 6-10) – More than 200 cyclists from across the U.S. competed over five days of racing at the Colorado Springs Velodrome at this year’s Masters and Para-cycling Track National Championships

Ten world records were broken, 27 national records were set, and 125 Stars and Stripes jerseys were awarded.

USA Cycling Cross-Country MTB National Series: Ora Trails Fest, La Crosse, Wisconsin

(August 15-17) – Stop number 7 in the Cross-Country MTB National Series saw elite and age-group riders take on challenging courses along the bluffs of the Mississippi River at ORA Trails Fest. The weekend featured UCI XCO and XCC, along with Enduro and XC.

Brian Matter (Linear Sport Racing) took 1st in elite men’s XCC, followed by Landon Dendy(Segment 28) and Samuel Elson (HART Cycling) in 2nd and 3rd. Isabella Robles (HART Cycling) was 1st in elite women’s XCC. 

Caleb Swartz (Mondraker/Forward Endurance) won the elite men’s XCO race, followed by Landon Dendy (Segment 28) and Brian Matter (Linear Sport Racing) in 2nd and 3rdHolly Kruchoski won the elite women’s XCO race, with Isabella Robles (HART Cycling) in 2nd and Shelby Spaciel (Team Pedal Moraine) in 3rd

The last stop in the eight-race series is the UCI California MTB Triple, October 11-12, in Nevada City, California.

Leadville Trail 100 MTB: Leadville, Colorado

(August 9)Keegan Swenson (Santa Cruz Bicycles) won his 5th consecutive Leadville Trail 100 title while Kate Courtney (She Sends Racing) won the women’s title and set a course record in her Leadville debut. 

Swenson completed the 100-mile MTB course in 5:43:35, more than 15 minutes ahead of 2nd-place finisher John Gaston (Specialized). Swiss cyclist Simon Pellaud (Tudor Pro) was 3rd, in 6:08:21. 

Coming off surgery on a broken wrist just eight weeks earlier, Courtney, a Tokyo 2020 Olympian and 2018 World Champion, finished with the new women’s record of 6:48:55, more than 10 minutes ahead of Leadville defending champ Melisa Rollins (Liv Racing Collective). Rollins also went under 7 hours (6:59:16), the 2nd-best ever Leadville time for women. Cecily Decker (PAS Racing) was 3rd(7:09:48).

“For me, this race was about more than a record or a win,” said Courtney afterwards. “I had one of the most meaningful days of my cycling career in a place and at a race that I never expected to be.”
