USA Cycling Announces 2023 BMX Freestyle World Championship Teams

11 athletes have been nominated to the BMX Freestyle Park team competing at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships will make history in Glasgow, Scotland as the first World Championship where 13 events will be contested across 7 disciplines. 11 athletes will compete in the BMX Freestyle Park contest August 5-7, 2023. All athletes will compete in the Qualifying event on August 5th, with Semi-Finals the next day, and Finals on Monday, August 7th.

The full Tokyo 2020 Olympic team will be present as they work to gain crucial results for the Paris 2024 Olympic qualification. Olympic Silver Medalist Hannah Roberts (Buchanan, Mich.; Hyper BMX) will be looking to claim her fifth World Title. Nick Bruce (Youngstown, Ohio; DK Bicycles) is back competing after injuring his shoulder at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. His first contest back was Montpellier in May. 2018 World Champion Justin Dowell (Virginia Beach, V.A.; Hyper BMX) finished second at the 2022 World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE and will be vying for that top step once again.

Other top competitors include Marcus Christopher (Canton, Ohio; DK Bicycles) and Brian Fox (Commerce, Ga.; Woodward Camp) who both finished on the podium at the first World Cup of the season in Diryah, Saudi Arabia. Christopher went on to podium again in Montpellier and is currently ranked second in the World Cup rankings behind Olympic Gold Medalist Logan Martin (AUS).

The team will head to the next World Cup in Brussels, Belgium on July 6-9 before the World Championships in August.
