
Team USA Recap: Brown, Rude, and Jimenez Palos Win World Titles across Paracycling Road, Enduro, and Junior Track; Lopez de San Roman Take First UCI U23 World Cup Victory
(August 23-September 14) – After 10 stages of racing, Matteo Jorgenson (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) is in 7th place and Matthew Riccitello (Israel-Premier Tech) is in 10th at this year’s Tour of Spain. Jorgenson’s teammate Sepp Kuss is in 15th, as the two ride in support of Tour leader Jonas Vingegaard.
Kevin Vermaerke (Team Picnic PostNL), Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) and Sean Quinn (EF Education-EasyPost) are the other Americans racing the Vuelta, which concludes on September 14 in Madrid.

(August 20-24) – Riley Sheehan (Israel-Premier Tech) placed 3rd at the Lidl Deutschland Tour, a five-day race that started in Essen with a prologue time trial and ended in Magdeburg with a 163-kilometer stage. Sheehan, age 25, also placed 2nd overall in the youth category. It was his second, top-four stage race placing this month. He took 4th at the Arctic Race of Norway, which ended August 8.

(August 30) – Chloé Dygert (Canyon/SRAM zondacrypto) placed 6th at the Classic Lorient Agglomération, a 165-kilometer race that begins and ends in Plouay, France. It was a good return to racing for Dygert, who abandoned the Tour de France Femmes earlier in August on the final day due to a lingering leg injury and illness.

(September 2-7) – Lily Williams (Human Powered Health) placed 8th on the first day of the six-day Simac Ladies Tour. The mainly flat stage race goes through the Netherlands and Belgium. Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health), Megan Jastrab (Team Picnic PostNL) and Skylar Schneider (Team SD Worx-Protime) are also competing.

(August 28-31) – Team USA scored nine medals over four days of racing at this year’s UCI Paracycling Road World Championships, held in Ronse, Belgium, including Clara Brown winning the Women’s C3 Road Race. Events included individual time trial, road race, and mixed handcycle team relay.

(August 31) – Richard Holec (Team Cadence Cyclery p/b Encore Wire) and Josephine Peloquin (LA Sweat Racing) earned the wins on the eighth and final stop of the American Criterium Cup, part of the USA Cycling Criterium National Series.
Maurice Ballerstedt (Baller) was 2nd and Brody McDonald (Golden State Blazers) was 3rdin the men’s pro race. On the women’s side, Shannon Koch (Kingdome Elite Racing) was 2nd and Alexandrine Obrand (Golden State Blazers) was 3rd.
Ballerstedt and Aline Seitz (UTC Butcherbox) won the overall ACC series individual titles.
On the men’s side, Brody McDonald was 2nd overall and Danny Summerhill (L39ION of Los Angeles) was 3rd. Andrea Cyr (Fount Cycling Guild) was 2nd overall behind Seitz and Rylee McMullen (Virginia’s Blue Ridge Twenty28) was 3rd.
Cadence Cyclery won the overall men’s team standings, followed by Golden State Blazers and L39ION of Los Angeles.
Virginia’s Blue Ridge Twenty28 won the women’s team standings, followed by UTC Butcherblock Cycling and Fount Cycling Guild.

(August 20-24) – Team USA juniors brought home two medals and scored several top-10 placings at the 2025 UCI Junior Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Elite cyclists ages 17-18 from around the globe competed for 22 titles in Keirin, Madison, Omnium, Sprint, Team Pursuit, Team Sprint, as well as the Elimination, Individual Pursuit, Points Race, Time Trial and Scratch.
Representing Team USA were four men and one woman: Ashlin Barry (JEGG - SKIL - DJR); Peyton Burckel (EF Education-ONTO); Merrick Gallagher (Jerry Baker Juniors); Enzo Hincapie (EF Education-ONTO) and Emma Jimenez Palos (TWENTY28 Aevolo).
Jimenez Palos kicked things off on day one with a victory in the Women’s Scratch Race, winning by a bike length and earning the rainbow jersey. On the same day, the men’s Team Pursuit squad made it to the bronze medal round; a crash at the next day’s finals put them in fourth place.
Jimenez Palos earned her second medal on day two, winning silver in the Individual Pursuit final. Ashlin Barry earned 5th in junior Men’s Omnium, while Jimenez Palos placed 5th in junior Women’s Omnium. Other top results include Merrick Gallagher, who placed 8thoverall in the Men’s Points Race and Ashlin Barry, who placed 6th in Men’s Pursuit.

2025 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships: Colorado Springs, Colorado
(August 21-24) – Top track cyclists from around the country competed at the Colorado Springs Velodrome for Stars and Stripes jerseys at the 2025 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships.
More than 30 elite national titles were awarded over the four days of racing, with several national records set as well. Kayla Hankins (American Sprint Cycling Program), Emily Hayes (York, S.C.), and Hayley Yoslov (Corte Madera, Calif.) won the women’s Team Sprint final and broke a national record with a time of 1:04.485, while Mandy Marquardt (Edge Cycling) won gold in the Women’s Kilo Time Trial and set a new record with a time of 1:06.207.

(August 28-31) – Vida Lopez de San Roman (Trinity Racing) podiumed twice over the weekend at Les Gets, kicking things off with her first UCI short track win in the U23 women’s race, then taking silver in the U23 women’s XCO.
Savilia Blunk (Decathlon Ford Racing Team) earned 6th in elite women’s XCO and 7th in XCC.
In rainy and muddy downhill action, Anna Newkirk (Frameworks Racing/5Dev) placed 10thin the elite women’s final. Aletha Ostgaard (Canyon Factory Team) placed 2nd in the junior women’s final and world champion Asa Vermette (Frameworks Racing/5DEV) placed 2ndfor junior men.
Matilda Melton (Commencal Schwalbe by Les Orres) was 6th and Zanna Logar (Future Frameworks) was 8th in junior women’s DH. Lucas Dedora (Frameworks Racing/5DEV) was 8th in junior men’s DH.
